![]() That's pretty much the whole story, as this isn't a game that puts any weight on storytelling. In Chivalry: Medieval Warfare the player is dropped in the fictional medieval realm of Agatha, torn by a civil war between the loyalist Knights of Agatha and the rebel Mason Order. ![]() While Chivalry is indeed their first commercial title, they accumulated a lot of experience in developing the Half-Life 2 mod Age of Chivalry, that forms a very solid base for this new game. ![]() It would also be a mistake to judge Torn Banner as an inexperienced studio. It would be an error, though, to dismiss one or the other as a clone, as they're similar in setting and in the most basic elements, but they differ radically in their spirit and features. ![]() WotR got horse archery and handcannons planned for the future.Įdit: Just realized something. It's interesting that, after years of seeing the First Person Shooter genre bound to M-16s, Kalashnikovs and assorted firearms, we got two games based on melee combat and medieval warfare in two weeks. It would be cool if Chivalry got cavalry but you know what. It pisses me off though with all the WotR vs Chiv threads in the WotR steam forum and I am sure that the Chiv steam forum got its share. My real opinion of Chivalry is not negative and as I have played both I can compare them somewhat fairly when I feel like it (shameless propaganda is more fun). My trollish attitude probably makes people understand but.Īs I am the only WotR player in HC I take amusement in belittling Chivalry and promoting WotR. I do remember screenshots with character customization from it, they look impressive. Send Instant Message | Send E-Mail | View Profile | Quote Reply | LinkĪnd now I remember GunFred, he's a stout War of the Roses player and defends it with it's last breath of life I have to admit I haven't even seen gameplay of it, I will have to remedy that later tonight. So, is there some group here on HC that plays, or it's just Adrius? Playing with people that at least aren't completely incompetent and don't prefer writing badly written insults would be enjoyable.Īlso, where did you learned that Man-at-Arms will get Quarterstaff? On official site it only mentions Flail and - judging from the screenshot, Polehammer will be basically two-handed version of Warhammer that Knight has, so it will be tiny but probably deadly (and realistic if you care about that ) I'm a mediocre player at best, only slightly better then spam-LMB gutter scum (if I may say so), so calling me hacker is ridiculous well, stupid people, and then going "OH ASH YOU HACKER". My biggest issue is with majority of players playing like. It's a good game, although frustrating at times. Small introduction - I got Chivalry over Steam as (catholic) Christmas present and I've been playing it ever since then. Hey there, old member, been lurking for a while (haven't got anything smart to write) and I have been following some threads like What are you playing now. Send Instant Message | Send E-Mail | View Profile | PP | Quote Reply | Link Personally I'm looking forward the most to the QUARTERSTAFF for the manliest class, the Man-At-Arms. All of this is coming to you completely free in January so stay tuned for more details on the update and brush up on your dueling skills! Blood Decals painting to the ground when a player is struckĪnd of course TONS of bugfixes and polish work to the game overall. Get more details and teaser images on our website:Īnd for those of you who want the battlefield to be just a little bit messier: New weapons, including the Flail and Polehammer Duel Mode, allowing you to continually fight 1 on 1 without risk of interruption Now that the free Steam weekend is over, the game is actually playable again.Ī patch should arrive shortly, hopefully before the end of January. ![]() Set in a fictional yet gritty and realistic world, players will fight in fast paced online battles besieging castles, raiding medieval villages and fighting for glory in the arena with up to 32 players. The game is skill-based and controls like a FPS, but instead of guns and grenades, players are given swords, shields, maces, battleaxes and longbows. “You have a sword and you want to hurt some people.”Īnd it works on that level but there is so much depth to the combat that you can become a master swordsman over time. Figured I'd make one instead of filling the "what are you playing now" thread with my rants. ![]()
